HSE Launches Business Plan For Next 12 Months

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) launched earlier this month, its business strategy for the years 2010 to 2011.

In launching the 56 page document, Judith Hackitt said:

"I have great pleasure in presenting HSE’s Business Plan for 2010/11. It sets out the main actions which HSE will take to progress the strategy, The Health and Safety of Great Britain // Be part of the solution launched in June 2009. It also outlines the work we will do to support others in our shared mission to prevent death, injury and ill health to those at work or those affected by work activities."

The strategy document details the HSE main aims for the next twelve months:

Improving the working environment by:

* Creating healthier, safer workplaces * Avoiding catastrophe * Investigations and securing justice * Taking responsibility * The need for strong leadership * Building competence * Involving the workforce * Transforming the approach * Customising support for SMEs * Taking a wider perspective

It also sets out its plans to enabling delivery of its aims and managing the HSE's finite resources.

Whilst these are current plans, it does not howver take into accpunt the Tory plans to decimate both the HSE and health and dsafety legislation in this country.

It must be read with extreme caution, this side of the election. Come May 6th, the strategy may have to be scrapped and comletely re-written, depending upon the the new government elected.
